An audio producer with headphones seated in the Sound Matters studio, preparing for an audio editing session.

Hi, I’m Andy Warr.

I'm a working saxophonist and musician who's spent most of my life playing shows, producing and composing, and helping other players get better at what they do. I work on all four saxophones, and split my time between live gigs, studio work, and one-on-one coaching.

Over the years I've played everything from small clubs to large events and festival stages, recorded horn sections and solos for artists and producers, and contributed to projects that have landed in film, television, and games. I care a lot more about sound, feel, and serving the song than I do about showing off.

Teaching grew naturally out of that work. I enjoy working with motivated teens and adults who want clear direction, honest feedback, and a practice plan that actually fits real life. Whether we're talking saxophone, jazz improvisation, or broader music theory, my approach is straightforward: know what matters, focus on that, and avoid noise.

If we work together, you can expect:

  • Direct, respectful feedback without fluff.

  • A clear sense of what we're working on and why.

  • A practice routine that's specific enough to be useful and realistic enough to be sustainable.

  • A focus on sound, time, and musical choices–not just playing more notes.

When I'm not in the studio or on stage, I'm usually practicing, writing, lifting, or getting outside around Bend. If you'd like to talk about lessons, a recording project, or a live date, feel free to get in touch.
